OUR FARM PHILOSOPHY

Our farms are productive, educational, and beautiful spaces. We understand that we are part of an existing ecosystem and strive to steward natural processes versus controlling them.

Farming practices nourish the soil and cause no harm to people or the planet using sustainable techniques that focus on soil health and biodiversity. We achieve this through:

  • Integrated pest management

  • Cover cropping, mulching, and/or keeping living roots in the soil

  • Minimal soil structure disturbance

  • Planting for pollinators and beneficial insects

  • No chemical fertilizers or pesticides

  • Produce is harvested with GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) safety standards and used in meaningful ways for meals for kids and experiential learning.

  • Cultivation and harvesting techniques are efficient and minimize waste.

Our farm is a classroom to teach:

  • Small-scale farming operations

  • The fundamental self-reliance skills of growing and preparing food

  • Transferable skills in leadership, communication, and teamwork

  • Connection with how our food is grown and the people who make it possible

  • Food system career exploration
