Volunteer Spotlight: Noha Zaki

Noha Zaki already speaks three languages: Arabic, French, and English and is working on adding Spanish to that roster. Noha studies international marketing at the Kelley School of Business at IUPUI and loves drawing, photography, and people watching. "Body language fascinates me," she says.Noha_EditedHow did you first hear about The Patachou Foundation?I first heard of The Patachou Foundation through working at Café Patachou and I’ve always wanted to commit some time to get involved in it, but it was really my community service class that pushed me to be more proactive about it and I am so grateful that it did. What do you love most about volunteering with The Patachou Foundation? One of the things that I truly love about volunteering with The PatachouFoundationn is interacting with the kids. It is not only about serving and providing them with fresh and healthy food, but also being present with them and becoming their friend, their listener, and their cheerleader for about an hour. Usually, my shifts are the highlight of my days, because I feel that I have fun more than the kids. But honestly, if I know that giving these kids just an hour of my time contributes to a major issue in their daily lives, why wouldn’t I?What’s your favorite memory or story from volunteering with The Patachou Foundation? Now I have only been with the foundation since September 2018, and I have floated around a lot of schools but I’d have to say each and every school has a different vibe to it, but the one common thing is that the kids are always very eager and excited to help with setting tables and plated food.At the end of the day, no matter what school and atmosphere you serve in, the kids will always light up when they see you in your Patachou shirt. You can always count on them to help you, show you artistic creations they did in class, finish all the fruit (boy do they LOVE fruit), and make your day if not your whole week! Volunteering with TPF is not only an investment of your time for the kids but for yourself as well.Want to join Noha on our team of volunteers? Apply today!
