Volunteer Spotlight: Meghan Freeman

Meghan Freeman is an avid volunteer who has lived in Indianapolis most of her life. She works in marketing at IU Health and is a self-proclaimed fitness junkie who spends most of her free time at the gym. "If not there," she says, "I’m probably at The Koelschip, the bar my husband owns in our neighborhood."MeghanFreemanHow did you first hear about The Patachou Foundation?I was talking with a friend at work about how I felt drawn to the issues of food deserts and food insecurity in Indianapolis and how there is a need for educating young kids about nutrition. But I didn’t know how to start helping. She told me about the mission of the Foundation and suggested getting involved. I think I filled out the application that night!What do you love most about volunteering with TPF?Working with the kids! They are so fun and creative. They always remind me to take time to be silly.What’s your favorite memory or story from volunteering with TPF?My favorite memory is from the first time I volunteered. Out of nowhere, I got the biggest hug from one of the little boys. You can’t beat that.What school do you typically serve and can you tell us about it?IPS 54. They are a super welcoming group of people and sweet kids who definitely know what they like - and what they don’t like!
