Glick Philanthropies Awards Grant to Expand PataSchool’s Impact
We are thrilled to announce that The Patachou Foundation has received a generous $100,000 grant from Glick Philanthropies to expand the reach of PataSchool, our transformative program designed to address food insecurity in Indianapolis schools. This grant will allow us to help even more schools create healthier, scratch-cooked meals for students, providing an essential resource for their health, well-being, and academic success.
PataSchool is an innovative initiative that partners with schools to replace processed meals with fresh, USDA-compliant options. Through training, resources, and ongoing support, PataSchool helps schools implement scratch kitchens, making it easier for them to serve nutritious meals while also fostering a deeper connection to their communities.
With up to half of a child’s daily food intake coming from school meals, PataSchool’s impact goes far beyond the cafeteria. By working directly with school administrators, teachers, and students, we develop tailored strategies that promote healthier eating habits and create a positive environment for academic achievement.
“High-quality school meals are transformational,” said Martha Hoover, Founder of The Patachou Foundation. “This grant from Glick Philanthropies allows us to expand PataSchool and prove that scratch cooking in schools is not only achievable but essential for the well-being of our students and the future of our community.”
Research consistently shows that nutritious meals lead to better academic outcomes. In schools partnered with PataSchool, we’ve already seen improvements in standardized test scores and student engagement. By expanding the program with the help of this grant, we can continue to support student success and create a lasting impact on our community.
Matthew Feltrop, Executive Director of The Patachou Foundation, shared, “Each nutritious meal we help schools serve is a building block for student success. This grant will allow us to reimagine school food and continue fighting hunger with a bold, innovative solution.”
Glick Philanthropies is dedicated to supporting initiatives that create opportunity and build community. Marianne Glick, chair of the Glick Family Foundation, emphasized, “Nonprofit organizations are uniquely positioned to understand community needs and provide support. We are excited to support The Patachou Foundation’s efforts to build a stronger, healthier Indianapolis.”
